Frequently asked questions
How do I play?
Pixel Reveal is a nonogram puzzle. The numbers beside each row and column describe groups of filled cells, in order. Leave at least one empty cell between two groups. Use the clues together to reveal the picture. A zero clue means that the corresponding row or column stays empty.
How do I fill a grid, mark an X or move around?
Tap or drag to fill cells. Press and hold a cell to add or remove an X as a reminder that it should stay empty. Use the zoom controls to fit or enlarge the grid, and drag with two fingers to move. Your marks and the row/column clues help you work through the puzzle.
How do hints work?
A hint corrects one cell. There are up to three hints per puzzle attempt. For an eligible adult, the game can offer a voluntary rewarded ad before applying a hint. Other supported age profiles receive local hints without an ad. If no further hint is available, you can keep solving the puzzle yourself.
Do I have to watch a rewarded ad?
No. Rewarded ads are optional. When offered, one hint is applied only after the advertising SDK confirms the reward; simply closing an ad does not grant it. If an ad fails, is not ready or is unavailable offline, the game must not grant an unconfirmed reward or stop you from continuing to play.
Is my unfinished puzzle saved automatically?
In the recent validation versions, confirmed changes to a puzzle are saved locally through Expo SQLite storage. The saved attempt includes filled cells, X marks, used hints and the available undo history. A save error is reported instead of confirming the failed change. Keep your app data to retain local records.
Can I resume after closing the app or on another device?
On the same installation, reopen an unfinished level to resume its saved attempt, including after closing the app. Pixel Reveal does not provide its own cross-device progress synchronisation. Uninstalling the app, clearing its data, switching between separate test/production apps or restoring a system backup can affect the records available; do not assume they transfer between apps or devices.
How many actions can I undo?
The recent validation versions retain up to 30 undo actions for an attempt, including across a saved restart of the app. A continuous filling gesture counts as one action. Hints are protected from undo; restarting the level starts a new attempt and clears that attempt’s undo history.
How do I restart one level?
Choose Restart on the game screen and confirm. This starts the current puzzle attempt again, clearing its cells, X marks, used hints and undo history. It is different from resetting game progress in Settings, which affects completed levels and unlocked rewards. Read the confirmation before continuing.
What does the remove_ads purchase remove?
Where offered by your store, remove_ads is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. A confirmed entitlement stops automatic interstitial ads. Voluntary rewarded ads can remain available to eligible adults. Gameplay banners are prepared for private testing only; in those test versions a confirmed entitlement also hides the banner. This is not an announcement that banners are publicly enabled.
How can I restore a purchase or resolve a missing product?
Use Restore purchases in Settings with the relevant store account. The store must confirm the entitlement; a local setting is not proof of ownership. Restoration can be available even when the purchase catalogue is unavailable. On Android, the purchase and restoration interface requires an explicit 18-or-older choice. A missing product or price, connection problem, pending payment or revoked purchase can prevent an entitlement from being confirmed. No purchase is simulated and no refund is promised here.
What if I have no connection or an ad does not load?
You can continue solving puzzles without choosing a rewarded ad. Store checks, restoration, product prices and advertising can require a connection. Check connectivity and try the action again later if it is still available. An unavailable ad must not count as an earned hint. Do not reset your app data as a first troubleshooting step: that can remove local progress.
How do age and privacy choices affect ads and purchases?
In the reviewed validation code, an unknown age or a non-adult profile cannot initialise advertising or purchases. Only an explicit adult choice can make these services available, subject to the store and Google UMP privacy checks. Android asks for an age range and lets you change it in Settings. iOS uses Apple’s purchase services and has its own platform privacy considerations. Where Google requires a privacy-options entry point, Settings lets eligible users reopen the form. A non-personalised ad is not the same as no data processing. Read the Privacy Policy for the published platform-specific details.
